Clementine Maconachie is an Australian artist based in Sydney, known for sculptural works that explore materiality, balance and perception. Her practice centres on metal and, in some works, stone, which she hand-cuts or cold-bends into folded, organic forms that challenge the expected rigidity of these materials. Her sculptures often appear soft or paper-like, despite being made from hard industrial surfaces. 

Maconachie is known for using physical force and the weight of her own body to shape metal into undulating wall reliefs and freestanding forms. Her work embraces imperfection, with attention to surface, proportion and the tension between strength and fragility. This interplay has become central to her sculptural language, giving her pieces both structure and movement. 

Beyond her artistic practice, Maconachie is also noted for her background as an Olympian and former world record holder, a discipline that informs her process and precision in the studio.
