Pyxix Object Box in Bronze by Ashley Corbett-Smith
Based on the classical Pyxis, this sand-cast bronze object box by Ashley Corbett-Smith transforms a functional vessel into a sculptural piece. The soft depression in the lid is informed by depictions of Einstein's theory of gravitational waves, creating a gently sloping surface designed to hold a ring or two.
A removable chocolate brown leather insert lines the base, helping protect precious or less-worn pieces stored inside. Each box is finished by hand before being rumble polished, giving the bronze its tactile character and making every piece subtly unique. Both practical and collectible, it is a considered object for a bedside table, dressing room or display shelf.
