Metafora Coffee Table for Casigliani, Italy, 1979

$8,390.00

Designed in 1979 by husband-and-wife duo Lella and Massimo Vignelli for Casigliani, the Metafora Coffee Table is a defining example of Italian postmodern design. Highly collectible and recognisable, the piece explores pure geometric forms and contrasting natural materials.

The design features four removable stone shapes - each representing a Platonic solid - supporting a thick, clear glass top. The geometric bases are crafted from a mix of marble, granite and travertine, combining sculptural form with architectural weight.

This piece is part of the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and remains one of the most iconic coffee table designs of the 20th century.
